Selbie Opticians (PEARS – Huddersfield)
In addition to providing the usual optometry services such as sight tests and contact lenses fittings, Selbie Opticians are also accredited to provide the Primary Eyecare and Assessment Referral Service (PEARS); conditions that can be seen under the service include:
• Red eye or eyelids
• Dry Eye or gritty and uncomfortable eyes
• Irritation and inflammation of the eye
• Significant recent sticky discharge from the eye or watery eye
• Recently occurring flashes or floaters
• In growing eyelashes
• Foreign body in the eye
PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT A SIGHT TEST
If you have a major eye condition that is being regularly monitored by your optometrist or hospital eye service, this will not be covered by this service, for example, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy or glaucoma.
Practice Hygiene
In practice we are keeping strict hygiene procedures with regular cleaning of equipment between patients, regular hand washing and wearing of a mask at all times.
Our Services
Extensive Eye Examinations
We reserve you 30 minutes for each eye examiantion, allowing plenty of time and no pressure, so we can get your spectacle prescription perfect for you.
Contact Lenses
Expert in several different types of contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel and rigid gas permeable
Dry Eye
Sore, irritable eyes? A detailed examination using specialist diagnostic dyes to assess the quality of the tear film.
Urgent Care
If you have a painful red eye an emergency assessment may be required to rule out any sight threatening problems. Special diagnostic dyes are used to check for corneal problems or other common causes of red eye such as conjunctivitis.
Longer Test Times
Book in for an Advanced Examination and discuss your eyes in more detail with the optometrist
Specialised Equipment
At Selbie Opticians we have lots of different specialised equipment to test your eyes. We highly recommend our OCT retinal scans.
